Moving Along

Our dirt has been dug up, moved around and piled. Ooh, it's so exciting. Next comes the foundation! I think our soon to be neighbors think we are a little strange stopping by every week taking pictures. :)

The Jenks' Dirt

If you thought this was going to be a really exciting post full of our deep, dark secrets you're wrong. :) It is really just about dirt. Our dirt. We are so excited to build our home so we are going to document each phase here on our blog. I'm not much of a traditional journal writer but I am willing to keep a blog for our family. We are very excited and want to remind ourselves how much the Lord has blessed us. We are so grateful and amazed at the opportunities the Lord has provided our family with.

I thought maybe this would be more interesting in a slide show. I don't think it worked. Dirt is dirt.

Mother's Day (a little late)

I'm a little late posting this which really shouldn't surprise anyone that knows me. I just wanted to thank my family for a lovely Mother's Day. Here is a picture of the "flowers" Paige picked and arranged for me. She also gave me some yummy chocolates. :) She also made a cute flower with hand print petals. It is kind of in the picture.
Jacob made me a colorful butterfly picture in art. Loved it! Joe also gave me chocolates (turtles, yum!). I actually had some self control and didn't eat it all in one day. After nursery Romney gave me a cute little bouquet of hand print flowers making the "I love you" sign. Adorable!

I love being a mom to Jacob because he is so helpful and I love it when he offers help without being asked.
I love being Paige's mom because she loves to make cards and surprises for me and express her love.
I love being Romney's mom especially when he wants to sit and cuddle with me. He's also a funny tease.
I love being a mom to Rebekah because she has unconditional love for me.
This is the cookie bouquet my kids decorated for Grandma Hull. The cookies got much larger than anticipated. The kids had a great time decorating them especially putting on sprinkles!
And really just so Nancy can see, these are the flowers I arranged for my mom from my sister Nancy. On the bottom is the corsage I made from the flowers the fell off. You can't really see it; I didn't actually intend to get it in the picture. :)

Can you hear me screaming?

No, you can't. That's because, believe it or not, I had great self control and just set to work cleaning up the path of destruction Romney created. Now, for the story... I walk downstairs to check on Romney and was met with the distinct scent of permanent marker. I was dreading walking through the door and seeing what my two year old had destroyed. (Apparently I leave my child alone for for too long because I could not believe how awful it was.) Romney was sitting on the floor surrounded by markers and there in the middle was a black permanent marker. I think he opened one of the boxes we had packed with office type stuff because it wasn't one of the markers we had been using for packing. Anyhow... The first thing I noticed was the van seats (a lot of side notes, sorry. When our van broke down on a camping trip and we sold it, the seats were back at home.) that we were selling on Craigslist. They were 75% black with marker. Then I followed a little path along the floor which let to a plastic toy chair, then over to a little suitcase for Paige's Barbie clothes, on to my sewing machine case, a scanner we were selling, an open box of greeting cards (on the sides of half of them), a plastic storage box or two and thankfully(?) it ended with a few marks on the back of our leather couches. Talk about a destructive child. I started wiping stuff off before it stuck worse and I heard Joe come home. (He rarely comes home for lunch so this was just meant to be.) He looked on the internet and found out toothpaste takes out permanent marker. It was amazing! It came right out of the upholstery on the seats and off plastic. (And it leaves a clean minty scent!) I haven't gotten around to cleaning it all. Ran out of energy and time. Oh, here's a funny thing as we were downstairs cleaning I thought (could be a spiritual prompting to save my child's life) I should go check on Romney. I found him upstairs, sitting in Rebekah's crib with Paige's school box full of markers. Can you believe it! Does he never stop?! I love his energy and ability to stay focused on a project! ;PI think it all came out of the seats. This is the remaining mess. It has all been moved around now but you could just follow this little path of black marker.
